The bags are packed and I'm on the road again. It's been nearly a year since my last mobile adventure (living out of van and climbing with Dan Sandberg, which was chronicled here). Now it's east for thanksgiving, grad school apps, some ice climbing, and then further east to Turkey for some sport climbing and traveling with Anna Joseph. I'm psyched to live simply, see some new things, play in the glaciated east, and catch up with friends and family.
One of two duffels going east |
The last month has been a logistical marathon. I finished several projects for the Tahoe Resource Conservation District, wrote reviews for laptop backpacks and laptop messenger bags for Outdoor Gear Lab (OGL), took the GREs, and packed up my room and sorted through tons of OGL gear. Chris McNamara has generously let me store lots of things in the SuperTopo warehouse. As have several friends in Tahoe.
Heading east I'm bringing gear for sport climbing, international travel, ice climbing, and a bunch of things to show off at an OGL presentation for the Maine Chapter of the the Appalachian Mountain Club. I'm fortunate to get to use, though only briefly, a new Cilo Gear Woven/ Non Woven 30 Liter Worksack. At $500 this is the sickest alpine pack on the planet.
